6 POUNDERS!!

After 15 1/2 weeks....both Lane and Sloan are 6 pounds!!  We sure have come a LONG way from 1 pound 6 ounces! I was looking back at the pictures of them when they were first born, and I think I was in denial about how small they really were. I remember getting frustrated when people would come and see them and the only thing they would say is "They are so little!" I can admit now how truly shocked and scared I was, and YES they were so little. Looking back, I am glad that I was in a state of denial or I don't know if I would have been able to make it through the first few weeks.

Thankfully, today we are in a whole new place with the babies! We are actually talking with the doctors and nurses about going HOME soon! There are few things left on our "checklist" to accomplish before we take our sweeties to Gruver. The main thing we are working on now is being sure that both Lane and Sloan will take every feeding (8 a day) either by breast or by bottle. Neither one of them have their feeding tubes anymore, and we are hoping those are a thing of the past. They also have to pass the carseat challenge. This is where we bring their carseats in and they have to be able to sit in them for 3 hours without dropping their heartrate. More than likely Sloan will be going home on oxygen, so we also need to meet with a home healthcare to get trained on how to operate his oxygen tank. Lastly, we will be rooming-in with the babies for atleast 2 nights to make sure we are ready to care for them around the clock!  So, as you can see...we are getting REAL close!

  1. How wonderful! I can only imagine how the last 4 months must have seemed like a road with no end and I cannot even contemplate the many emotions you all have felt along the way. That long road led you all to where you are now and I know your journey only makes you appreciate the simple things in life so much more. From reading this post, it really seems as if you are beginning to turn the page to the next chapter of your life. The chapter where the parenting truly begins, the very beginning of the book where most parents have just held their precious newborn for the first time in their arms. I like how someone on your Facebook put it when referring to the journey you have been through and how the real journey is just really getting ready to begin. I will pray continually for the babies to do well in the coming days. I am praying that your precious miracles are home safe and sound by the end of the week. Just remember you have a Respiratory Therapist living just down the road so if you need anything or have any questions you can always call...though I am sure you are a pro already with all that stuff. God Bless you all! Can't wait to hear the good news that you are home!!
