Today was a good day for Lane and Sloan!
My mom and I walked into the NICU this morning to the nurse saying that she wanted to try something new with Lane. I looked into her isolette and noticed that her head wrap was off....she was off of CPAP!! We were thrilled! She now has two prongs in her nose giving her a small amount of oxygen (she was at 22% most of the day). We know that there is always a chance that she may have to go back on CPAP, but she did so well today that we are hoping that CPAP is a thing of the past for her. It was so nice to look into her isolette throughout the day and see her little face. Nothing on her face is covered up anymore! Lane also gained a little weight today. She is now 2 pounds 13 ounces. A BIG day for our BIG girl!
Sloan also had a good day today. He was more alert during assessment time and a little less sensitive than he has been in the last few days. His progress is a little slower than Lane's, but the important thing is that he is progressing! The doctor decided to stop his chronic wean on the ventilator for a couple of days. They don't want to push him too hard. He is at a rate of 39. Our goal for Sloan is to get to a rate of 15 and tolerate that before he can move on to SIPAP and CPAP. We have faith that he is getting better and moving in the right direction!
