One Month Old!!

Our babies are one month old today!!

I didn't get a chance to post anything last night, but we have had an exciting last couple of days. Yesterday I was able to hold Lane Kathryn for the first time, and today I got to hold my precious baby boy! Wow, what an amazing feeling it was! I can't even express in words how great it felt to put my arms completely around them. I could have sit there for days just staring at them. It was also great to see how well they both tolerated it...both Lane and Sloan had high numbers when they were laying with their momma! I know that Scott put a picture of Sloan and I on facebook, but I wish I had a picture of Scott looking at his little man. He was smiling from ear to ear!

Other big news...both Lane and Sloan are now getting full feedings for their weight (16 cc)! Both are completely off of their IV's, but Sloan is receiving steroids to help mature his lungs a little bit more. We are hoping that they both will be able to lower their ventilator settings a little more real soon.

Tonight Lane tipped the scales at 2 pounds 2 ounces. Sloan lost of couple of ounces last night, which was to be expected after the HUGE diaper incident! We walked into the room and the nurse was literally wiping down the entire front of his bed. She reported that when the diaper came off, the poop went everywhere! Daddy was very proud! Sloan did gain an ounce today, so he is now weighing 1 pound 15 ounces. I am sure he will reach the 2 pound mark again tomorrow if he tolerates his food as well as he has been.

We are looking forward to all of the progress this next month has in store for us!

  3. Please know that I am praying for your family. We our blessed with 4 wonderful children, with number 4 having been our preemie baby. (he was a surprise pregnancy at 40 yrs old, then a surprise early delivery at 28 wks, and grade 3 brain bleed) He is now 20 months old and just as wild as can be...no sign of ever having a brain bleed either, no shunt, nothing. Just God!
Reading your posts i can remember all the bleeps and buzzes like they were yesterday. and you are so right, 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

  4. I just found your blog through Kelly's Korner. I am a mom of twin baby girls, one of which we lost during birth. Our Kelsey weighed 2lbs 5oz when born and we spent 3 1/2 months in the NICU. I remember my first time to hold her when she was 19 days old. My heart rejoices with you, I understand what a wonderful moment this was. I will be praying for your precious family! Love from Louisiana, Nora

  5. Praying for your precious babies. The NICU journey is a roller caoaster ride, as I'm sure you already know, but hang in there momma. I'm a mommy to B/G twins that just turned 2 years old in December. Prayers!

  6. I love reading your blog, Erika! This is going to be a wonderful thing to save, for the babies to read when they are grown. So glad you have gotten to hold your precious babies, can't imagine how good it must feel. As always we continue to pray for their growth and strength. Can't wait for the day you can finally bring your sweet babies home!
